Following the clarification of the overarching direction for AI-empowered theoretical teaching, the Metalworking Teaching and Research Section of the Engineering Training Center recently conducted a thematic seminar titled "Deep Integration of AI and Course Teaching," centered on the “Fundamentals of Manufacturing Technology A” course. The seminar was attended by all faculty members of the section, along with Director Chen Hao of the Engineering Training Center. The discussions focused on how to utilize AI tools to design targeted teaching cases for each core chapter of the course, aiming to transform abstract theories into perceptible and interactive learning experiences.

During the seminar, faculty members systematically explored the potential of AI technology in optimizing instructional design and innovating content delivery methods, using key modules such as casting, welding, pressure processing, and cutting as starting points. Teachers unanimously agreed that AI is not merely an auxiliary tool for explanation but also a key vehicle for restructuring teaching logic and achieving personalized instruction. By integrating AI tools into case design, the intuitiveness, interactivity, and exploratory nature of theoretical teaching can be significantly enhanced.

Director Chen Hao provided guidance during the seminar, emphasizing the importance of deeply integrating AI technology with teaching practice. He called for the cases to be designed with a focus on student learning outcomes and exploratory engagement, ensuring that AI tools genuinely enhance teaching effectiveness rather than remaining superficial additions. He also stressed the need for systematic training for teachers to adapt to this new teaching paradigm.

Currently, the teaching and research section has preliminarily outlined a series of teaching case frameworks incorporating AI elements and will establish a dedicated team to advance the development and pilot implementation of these cases. This initiative marks a shift in the section’s AI empowerment path—from macro-level conceptual discussions to practical stages of deep integration with specific courses and chapters—exploring actionable teaching solutions for the intelligent upgrading of theoretical courses such as “Fundamentals of Manufacturing Technology A.
